These are excellent results! Well done! Quite a comparison to what you were getting with the DSLR and the old quark!

I'd recommend the Point Grey Grasshopper 5Mp for what you want. Not familiar with the SBIG, but is it a single shot camera? The PGR is a video camera and you would be looking to stack images from it.

Thanks everyone! Alexandra, with the CH3 and an astro engineering 1.4x nosepiece it makes a perfect full disk that just fits the frame (as in the fd images above) which are also taken at native 400mm fl as with the PSTs, with the tilt needed to throw the interference fringes in both Ha and CaK that ...

What a great set! Good show you! That filament lift off is a cracker.

The jet streams influences were moving up from the south quite early in the morning today, I had a few shots first thing in CaK that kinda worked, then you could just tell it had hit!

Mark - Those are swifts. It is common to see them flying happily as a group feeding on insects just before it starts raining. For some reason, insects fly high up in swarms before it rains. Saturday Sunshine and Testing The PGR Chameleon 3

Saturday morning very first thing offered a glimmer of some blue skies briefly, and like everyone else was keen to get a look at AR12529. Unfortunately the jet stream was screaming overhead, and as soon as the sun had cleared the local rooftops instability had set in and clouds were scudding by. As ...
