Re: Ghost Image

If it moves with eye movement it sounds like a reflection off your eyeball. What eyepieces are you using, and have you tried different EP's. I think in your previous post you mentioned using a 40mm, the image in the 40mm would be pretty bright, trying higher power EP's might help.

Carl, it's just the design of the split tube holder, my SM40 scope had the same seem, and you could see the end of the BF as well, it shouldn't affect the view at all.

Ken there was a thread in the Commercial scopes and equipment section regarding the two part BF30. I'm not sure how to provide a link to it, but if you do a search for 'Coronado BF30 too bright' by FRAZ, you should find it.

Re: Help with solarmax 2 90

Carl, if you're getting a good view of the sun with plenty of detail, it sounds as if your scope is working properly. The black dot you see when out of focus is probably the central bolt/spacer on the internal etalon, which will be there in all the Coranado scopes except the PST. The light leeking t...

Re: Do I have a Lunt lemon?

Going by the disc detail, your LS100 looks like it's working fine. The issue probably has something to do with the sweetspot, which in my LS100 SS is just slightly bigger than the FD, but is slightly off centre, and when DS, the sweetspot is even smaller.

Re: To Double stack, or not to Double stack

I have the LS60 with the DS60F front filter and use the ASI174 as well and have no issues. If you set it up for visual as Ken( Merlin66) explined above, and you can see the sun, you should have no issue when connecting the camera.

Hi Bob, I'm not sure if you mentioned this before, but how do you know which side of the Lunt ERF faces the sun. I have the 100 and 75mm ERF's and there is nothing to indicate which side to point to the sun. I've been told that there should be an arrow on the edge, but can't see any on either ERF. A...

I replaced my BF5 with a BF10 and it worked fine. It doesn't change image scale, just gives you more black sky around the sun, ie, stays in view longer before you have to move the scope.

You can still use your camera, but you will have to set the frame rate to half to see an image. This is a known issue when using imaging source USB2 cameras on newer laptops with USB3 ports and Intel chipsets, for more info have a look at the Imaging source forums.

Thanks for the info Ken. I have 3 BF10's which have the rust issue, the newer of the 3 showed signs of rusting within months of purchase, I'll give the Maier filter a try. On another note, did you sort out the USB 3 issue with the DMK51.
