That's a excellent full disk from a Quark Mark.
What make of scope was it? My 60mm f3.8 lens on the Solar Scout is awful.

Hi Alexandra thanks for confirming that, I am always unsure and like many people never read the silly rules, silly me  And thanks Rusted for bringing it up. Re: Full disk scope for Quark?
I have a feeling the reflection may be caused by the close proximity of the rear camera lens to the Quarks first blocking filter. I had the same thing when trying to make a Ha unit with Bob's filters when putting collimating lenses close to the filter even though they were coated. The blocker is bas...

I'm a bit confused though, in your text you say the large disk at 1.6x is with the ASI174, but on the image it says 1.6x is with the ASI1600, am I reading this wrong, I have just been to the dentist so a bit drugged up so could easily be me

Hi again forgot to say don't spend to much on it as Quarks don't seem to be very good at full disk stuff, maybe better to do mosaics. Re: Full disk scope for Quark?
Hi Minh A 50 mm finder/guider works well. You can put a reducer before the Quark I do this on my 150mm f15 refractor to bring the image scale down, not for full disk, but it would work on a smaller scope. I use a Pixco 0.7 camera reducer taken out of the camera fitting and then fitted into a 58mm ex...

Hi Alexandra Thanks for your reply I was thinking that about the seeing. My seeing is pretty diabolical most of the time and I struggle to get to f30 with my 6" f15 so use a reducer before the Quark and then its telecentric after so I can get some sort of stable image. Even at 4ms with the asi1...

Hi I am just interested in what people can see better in each image.

The two pictures are the same image just one I have done a final colour on it so all processing is the same until the colour.

I did a little more sharpening, always wary of going to far to start with, easy to make it look dramatic but unreal and add sharpening artefacts, I think this is better though.
I still prefer the B&W one though I seem to be able to see more detail.

Hi You shouldn't need a ERF with a 80mm and quark. A UV/IR cut filter will reflect back out most of the heat and harmful UV, the Quark filter will also do that but the UV/IR will take some of the strain off the Quark filter and it may last longer. UV/IRs are cheap enough so no reason not to use one....
