Focus indication with round scale.

Post by MAURITS »

I have seen a picture somewhere from a mechanical comparator that is used as a very accurate instrument for focus indication.
It's a rond scale with a needle 1/1000 mm indication as you can always find back with the indication.

So my question, where can I order something?

Maurits,

since you live in Belgium try conrad.be (https://www.conrad.be/zoeken?search=mee ... pe=regular)
cheapest is around €23 (ex-vat) You will need to make some parts to attach it to the focuser. I made something with a 3D printer. Works perfect for my SHG.

Groetjes,

Paul

I’ve been wondering about this type of set-up. I assume it would be to achieve precise repeatability with focus from session to session. Does precise focal distance not chance somewhat with weather and mechanical instability?
