It seem to me that being diffraction limited is not that important when viewing the sun in Ha.
I have tried to design the F/6 scopes with a singlet that is not aspherical and none of the designs make me happy.
At 50mm you can get to 1/4 wave at F/12 that looks good with simple lens, and at 80mm you need to be up at F/16-17 with singlets.
I must be missing something for the larger scopes.
If any one has any ray traces ,please post them I would like to see them.
Or it maybe that these systems where designed to be used at low power so that doesn't matter that much.
