LUNT PRESSURE TUNER.

Post by GUS »

Just a quick question for others with a PT tuned scope, when you remove the tuner completely are you supposed to hear a sound or does it come of quietly. I'm talking about when removing the tuner after its been pressurized for use for a few hours at the same location.

Can't get Ha detail in LS100 with Lunt blocking filters, for close to an hour, where as Coronado BFs work straight away.In correspondence with Lunt they asked about the PT tuner and the sound it makes when taken off, obviously to see if its holding pressure. The image through the Lunt BF is quite dark for the majority of time, and seems to brighten all of a sudden and detail starts to appear. I notice the image is quite dark in my LS60, but it does show Ha detail. Don't know if it's temp/pressure related(I've seen the thread about Lunt PT and Temp affects) were you mention about your scope needing a warm up period.
Just trying to diagnose the problem.
Thanks Walter.

GUS.

If you hear and air rush ,you have a bad seal.
Mine holds pressure and need no adjusting for months at a time.

Hi GUS

yes my LUNT 100 needs about 10-15 minutes warm up time until it showes the best details. The position of the PT knob has to be almost all the way down in order to get on band

Thanks Bill and Walter, the LS shows amazing detail with a Coronado BF with proms and surface visible at the same time, so the etalon seem O.k , and I can view for a couple hours so no leaks, just takes a long time for Lunt BFs to show any detail, not sure whats going on.

Hi GUS

good to hear that the Etalon works. It would be so great if a member of the adressed manufacturer would participate in such discussions
