Which DS option for LS100Tha.

Post by GUS »

Just thinking out loud at the moment, but in the near future(If I can sell enough surplus gear) would like to DS the LS100Tha, and would like to know if the best route would be the Lunt DS ll unit or the Coronado SM ll 90mm external etalon. The Lunt external LS100mm etalon is not an option because of price, and I'm not interested in the Quark. Has anybody tried the SM II 90 Richview filter, I know others have successfully used the older non rich view model, but not sure how the Meade one compares.
And regards the Lunt DS11 unit, are others using this , and if so are there any issues with reflections and ghosting as has plagued the LS80mm DSII units.

GUS.

Hi GUS

I can conform too that the combo LUNT100 PT and SM II 90 rich view works perfect

Only stardust in the wind, some fine and some less fine scopes, filters and adapters as well. Switzerland 47 N, 9 E, in the heart of EUROPE :)

Still after opinions on the LS100 DS11 unit, it is about the same price as a Coronado 90mm double stack etalon here in Australia, trying to work out best option, the Lunt goes straight on, the Coronado needs an adapter. I've only seen negative reviews of the 80mm DS11 option, but not much on the 100mm one.

In my opinion the 80DSII works very well. It introduces only a little bit of red into the background. I have a 100DSII and I'm not going to comment on it in public.
