Post by marktownley »

I was talking to Jen on the Daystar facebook page and she tells me Daystar are in the process of a designing a spherical aberration corrected 0.5x focal reducer for Ha use. Could be interesting! :)

Interesting.......
I eventually got my x0.5 reducer to work with the Quark and Grasshopper. Removed the lens from the converter and re-fitted it inside the camera nosepiece - just 5mm outside the camera case! It seems to give about x0.4 reduction - explains why I was having problems when it was screwed to the end of a 40mm long nosepiece!

Also Baader makes h-alpha reducers: http://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/pro ... lters.html

I read some pdf file with description where was mentioned that it can also work as 0.5x, it depends on distance to the camera.

That seems like a very high price for a focal reducer!

Ahh yes, forgot about the Baader one, thanks for that link. Hopefully the Daystar version will be a bit more affordable...

If DayStar will offer it in better price, I'll take it :)

Any info about thread sizes - 1,25", 2" or Quark 1 3/8"?
