grasshopper 3 CCD camera ICX625

Post by jmreales57 »

Hello fellow
has anyone tried this camera http://www.edmundoptics.com/imaging/cam ... eras/89527 to the sun in H-alpha?
initially had thought of a camera with CMOS sensor bigger but I'm watching the CCD has less problems so I'm reconfiguring the optical equipment and if the experience is good possibly choose me for this camera
thank you

I, along with several other people here, use the smaller version with the Sony ICX674 sensor and find that it works very well for solar (and lunar) imaging.

The ICX625 has a larger number of smaller pixels which might make it more/less suitable depending upon your scope/sampling.
Moving to the PG CCD camera allowed me to make a significant quality jump - not least because the Newton's rings which had been a pain with my ZWO CMOS camera simply disappeared :P

Have the camera with this sensor but no time to run it. I have Allied Vision ethernet version and it's hard for me to find good drivers for setup I have. Camera crashes while testing. Have no time to sort it out...
Will report if I will manage to take first solar light.

I had a spectrum sunscreen of 0.3A and was very sensitive to newton rings
neither crowned nor lunt accuse both this problem as it is not forced to work long focal relationships

The guy that runs this forum uses this camera (firewire version) almost exclusively. It's one of the best sensors.. I've don't have any newton ring issues with it. I find it's best to have 2 or more cameras with different size pixels, etc..
