Cool Baader Wedge

Post by Solar B »

Hi Folks

Is the adaptor in the foreground the one that's best suited for fitment
of the ND3 ... and then perhaps the solar con could be installed
to the nose piece ... this would be for visual use ... or what would be
your recommendation.

I assume you are using the Baader 2" ceramic wedge?
I bought the 'imaging' version which comes with a selection of 2" ND filters and a 2" Continuum filter.
The ND3 filter MUST be in place for safe visual use.
I stack the ND3 and Continuum filters via the eyepiece holder - threaded adaptor ring as shown here:

I don't see why you would want to put the continuum filter anywhere else unless you want to be able to add/remove it easily during use?

Yes the same Mike ... imaging version but is your EP holder/adaptor ring
easily removed as in my image ? ... I'm used to using the AE solarview 2
which has the ND3 preinstalled.

Yep, just screws apart as in the photograph although I never change my setup as I find the ND3 plus Continuum gives me great results in scopes ranging from 60mm to 152mm.

Thanks Mike .... I don't like the fact that the adaptor can be completely removed
as how do you know how much thread is in place without holding the adaptor
from the inside and turning the body of the wedge ?
