Hello everybody,
I am looking for some kind of filter tilting unit and I have seen the „Skybender“ being mentioned in several threads which seems to be what I am looking for. However I can't find it in the usual web stores.
Can somebody tell me if it is still in production and maybe point me to a vendor who has it available?
Thanks in advance,
Frank

Re: Filter tilting unit
Can you be a bit more specific what you want to do, do you mean a tilting device for a camera to eliminate Newton's rings, or do you want to tilt a filter (which I am not sure why you would)?

I want to tilt a filter, not a camera. I am tinkering with the idea to put an omega CaK behind a Lunt unit to see if this improves the pictures. A couple of people seem to have used a "Skybender" for similar things, but as I said, I can't find one, therefore my question.

Re: Filter tilting unit
I was wondering the same thing for Halpha, as was discussed here:

I did find this link for the Skybender, but have not purchased anything yet. Does anyone have any thoughts on the viability of this scheme for H or Ca?

Hi Kevin,
thanks for the very informative link to Christian Viladrichs homepage! Very interesting - this sounds as if the idea does make sense. However, lacking precise data for the Omega filters I still don't know what exactly that means for their usefulness. So, if anybody has tried out something along these lines I would be interested to hear about it.
Thanks also for the other link which seemed to offer the "Skybender" units when I was looking three days ago! Unfortunately I didn't really have time then to look into the details - meanwhile the link doesn't work any more. Hm...
Regards,
Frank
