Apart from the financial hit, is there any image quality difference between the asi174mm and the new asi174mm-cool for solar imaging?
There's probably no advantage to cooling the camera for solar imaging but cooling would give the flexibility to do a bit of deep sky work later on. However, if there's an extra front cover window for thermal insulation of the chip, I would imagine it could introduce an extra reflection surface ...
Any comments?

It may cause some interference fringes, but it is not that close from the sensor.
Regarding the imaging quality, cooling has no advantage for solar. It does for DSO imaging.

There have been some user reports about these cooled versions on CN. Not all of it good.
