Herschel Wedge With an SCT

Post by cshahar »

Hi Everyone:

I was wondering whether I can use a Baader or AP Herschel Wedge with a 9.25 SCT and a full front-mounted ERF? I would like to image solar granulation in WL. Or would a front mounted white light filter be preferable?

Thanks!

Charles

Charles, Either would work, but the addition of a Baader wedge to a 9.25" ERF is an expensive option....
IMHO I'd replace the front ERF with a full aperture Baader Solar Film white light filter.

(I have used my Baader wedge on the TS 102mm f11 which has the quick changeover PST/Baader wedge rear end and a full aperture D-ERF up front - just too lazy to remove!)

I would just do a full front mounted Baader solar film filter, you will still get amazing images for a fraction of the cost.
