Thought I’d follow up on this post. I had sent the T-scanner off to Solar Spectrum for testing and evaluation. Mark gave a thumbs up on the etalon quality and indicated that the trimmer and blocker filters would require replacement. He also gave me some options for upgrading the tuning capabilities. I opted for the TEC oven while retaining the tilt capabilities of the original T-scanner housing. Mark was incredibly helpful in designing an affordable solution to modernize a worthy etalon. I’ve managed to get out twice and so far I’m impressed. I still need to get the Baader telecentric but meanwhile a TV Powermate is standing in to get the f30 beam. I’ve tried to get the original Daystar custom 100mm f15 x2 to focus but no luck. Needs more tinkering. But meanwhile the Zeiss is working beautifully. The original Baader Hershel Wedge is also working very well on the Zeiss also. I added a solar continuum filter and the results are quite satisfying. I’ve included a few photos including a first light exposure of AR2712 from 6/3.
