Incoming Lunt LS60 BF1200

Post by nicosolcy »

So, I took advantage of the sale in the USA and I will soon get my hands on a Lunt 60mm (tilt tuned) BF1200 solar scope. Single stacked for the time being, double stack to be considered in the future, funds permitting.

I would appreciate it if I could have some feedback on camera choices, both for full disk imaging and higher magnification for specific features, as well as any accessories you think would be good to have for imaging, plus favorite capture software :)

Living in Cyprus means horrid heat and humidity, so for me this is something I will practice between late September to early May, in the early hours of the morning, lest I want to slowly roast myself. Always wanted to get a bit more serious about solar, well, it seems the time is right!

For full disks, chips with 3.45um pixels would be a good start.

Noted!

I do have a USB 2 ASI 120 MM, so will first play with that (despite low frame rate), to see how it goes :)

Yup, that will be a good starting point for you to cut your teeth on solar imaging

Sigh, had my first taste yesterday of viewing with the Lunt 60 and the next thing I did was to order a 60mm DS module.
