It's nice to know that they are inexpensive solutions to blocking filter repair. Coronado or Lunt.

Solar kit should be kept in somewhere of even temperature and low humidity, i.e. not a garden shed! Out of warranty the blocking filter is one of the most expensive parts as it is a very narrow bandpass filter
Hi Astrograph,

Well all my Coronado BF30 have been working in an area were 250 per year days the humidity does not go over 40% and all rusted.

That rusty Coronado ITFs are only a $75 fix from Maier Photonics for a new one.

Actually last one I obtained a couple of years ago was $89 shipped 😎

Hi Brian,

Thanks for the info. Will ask what shipping costs to Mexico.

It is a good price compared to the quotes I got from Europe.

Just to try and clarify here. Not all blocking filters are the same and you get what you pay for. The Coronado standard filters don't have IR blocking and seem to deteriorate just through normal use. Lunt blocking filters on the whole seem better quality but if left in an unfriendly environment will also deteriorate, likewise rear mounted Etalon filters.

Is the rust easy to see? I know it will visually degrade the image over time but how easy is it to see while looking at the filter?

It looks like at least in some cases it can be cleaned off.
