Daystar Scout 60 Image Problem

Post by astrobiker23 »

I have at last found time to test my Daystar Scout 60 and its not good. Because the image is so dark I have been using my ZWO camera which is working just fine on my other solar telescope. What I am seeing is a double image at the bottom and I can't see a surface detail or prominences. I get the same result with and without a finder any suggestions?

Hi Lillian
Welcome to the forum! I'm afraid that's decontacted. It needs to go back. No self fixing i'm afraid.

I didn't or hadn't realised that a solid etalon could de-contact

It's obviously always a risk with the much more fragile air spaced etalons

A solid etalon doesn't de-contact. That is something else.
