Walter ALMOST had me on this one!

Post by Cschur »

I knew he was just trying to trick me. When he mentioned he double stacked his Baader Continuum filter for better results, I had to try this myself to see if it was true! I do indeed have two filters of this type, and below the results are very clear. NO IMPROVEMENT WHAT SO EVER. In fact, the image was Four stops darker! that made the exposure so long as to blur the images significantly as well. But alas, no boost. Here are the results side by side. Walter you sly devil you! It might have actually worked...

Hi Chris

a fine comparison. Indeed you seem not to get much improved results doublestacking the baader continuum filters. Mhh :?

But that is not hindering me to use my double stack. Maybe I can use it today again ;-) Let's see

Walter I was getting some really long exposure times with the double stack, like 1/8 sec. Not good for freezing the seeing...

Hi Chris

you are right. The transmisson is lowered, but it doesn't matter with a 8" lens ;-)

Take the ND filters out of your wedge ;)
