How to use SolarMax filter

Post by wkyee »

I have a Coronado SolarMax 40 mm filter that came to be stacked on my PST, which works fine there. I was wondering if I can use this on another scope, say a department store 60 or 80 mm APO with the appropriate thread adapter. Or do I need additional filtration such as a blocking filter.

Not willing to go blind trying to find out myself.

Hi Willie

next to the solarmax up front you need a blocking filter at the end of the scope

Like walter says you will also need a blocking filter to use the etalon on another scope...

As stated.....
A BF5 as a minimum, a BF10 preferred.
