Hi to all,

Once flew over the spotless sun eastern limb with a 280mm SCT (very poor at 393nm?) .

Bands were H-a DS, Ca-II-K 2.2A, 393nm 10nm

Seeing was average with some improvements to a good one.

Hope you like these photos taken during that flight.

PS. Flight #2 was near the center of the spotless sun and was successfull too. But this is another story. Will tell you later.

Right click on the images, open them in a separate window to see them at a full resolution.

TheSkyBurner wrote: Sun Sep 23, 2018 11:18 pm The halpha is clearly much better defined than the 393.4. If you look at the top portion of your calcium image it is fairly blurred(this could simply ge from the low intensity transmission of the pst filter) Not complaing, its far greater than what ill be imaging and pretty much anyone else on the forum in the next 10 years.

But you can certainly do better!

Apples and oranges....
1. I certanly will do better, at least due to a greater aperture - the C14.

2. My goal is: all ARIES 2/3 bands filters owners should do at least comparable images, better if they will surpass my results.

3. This CaK image suffer from insufficient S/N due a rust on the blocking filter. Need to change the blocking filter.
Second reason is that at the edge the CaK "relief" is MUCH worser defined vs H-a DS. Regardless of filtration. This is nature of these supergranulation cells.

And, this is not my best CaK image. Far not the best.

Thanks for your critical note. Will work more about aestetical level of published CaK images.
