Feb. 10, 2020 Pretty Prom

Post by Astrophil »

There was a prom on the SW limb that looked interesting so I collected a few photons. After processing the image it looked upside down so I flipped it around but I could not stop there. Had to add color and invert. My apologies to the purists.

You captured that filaprom really well. Nicely done.

And no worries about the inverted image. As long as the whole doesn't look completely artificial (which yours certainly doesn't), I'm all for it. :)

Phil,

Your photos look really nice. I wish weather would have permitted me today to try to see it visually.

Very, very nicely imaged, Phil. Beautifully imaged spicules and fine details in the filaprom, which looks like it’s crawling over the limb.

Thanks so much for the kind comments. I had hoped there was at least one version that would appeal to most here.
Stu, once I flipped the image, I too saw something crawling over the limb. Somewhat ominously.
Alexandra, I find that the more natural appearing solar images are the most difficult to achieve. Your images are a good guide.
