Goldenrod Meadow

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Being the diehard solar observer I am, I hardly post here on Sunlit Earth but I do in fact like nature photography. Here is one I photographed of a meadow near my home on September 15th on my way to work.

It's an iPhone image! Even though I downsized it a bit it's still a larger file than I intended. Sorry. It takes a sizeable file to portray the detail here. I may go back and link it in DropBox later.

James, that is so beautiful, I am so glad you posted :hamster: I don't post here as often as I would like either. Is that a wildflower or a crop? I bet it attracts loads of wildlife :)

Goldenrod is a wildflower. One of my favorites.

Thanks James, I have never heard of that flower before. Strange because most of your wildflowers we grow in the UK as flower garden plants. This one is not one of them. I didn't realise Goldenrod was the name of the plant, I thought it was the name of the meadow  I love learning new things :)

Alexandra,
I have seen the plant sold here, usually planted from seed for flower gardens. I don't know how well they sell though because they are so common in the wild here. Along with a few other species like Morning Glories, Jimsonweed, Butterfly Weed ( An orange species of Milkweed ) and Turks Cap Lily, Goldenrod is among my favorite wildflowers.

James, this is so beautiful that I can hardly find words to describe my delight. Our leaves are already turning yellow, and you have a blooming meadow of fabulous beauty.
