AR2768 August 1, 2020

Post by ffellah » Sat Aug 01, 2020 6:25 pm

Hello all: a quick 35 minutes session this morning with good seeing. That made a great difference... I was able to process only these two images but I have more in the pipeline. AR2768 is putting on a great show of plasma swirling around. I used the HaT SS filter combination with and without the 0.7x focal reducer.

Hope you also had a chance to image this sun that is giving us some good opportunities.

Franco

Interesting as the WL shows the sunspot has faded.

Beautiful images, Franco. AR2768 is certainly looking spectacular with all that magnetic activity on display.

Very nice images Franco! Glad the seeing allowed you to use the HaT effectively.

Thank you Dan, Rainer, Stu, Mark and Alexandra for your nice comments. Alexandra: this filter is still the temporary replacement. The original one had substantially more contrast: this is narrow but I am struggling with its lack of contrast. I work on it during post processing but it is not the same. Here is an image of outgoing AR2767 nearing the limb.

Nice addition! It's going to be fun when your original filter comes back along with the contrast you miss.
