SolarMax II 60 mm scopes DS vs. SS

Post by JohnW »

Just wondering whether members can comment on the value of putting a double stack on a Coronado SolarMax II scope 60 mm. In Australia it costs about $1000 to put the extra stack on the front of the single stack instrument. Has anyone done this and compared the results? Thanks.

I have a Solarmax 60 and a SM60 front etalon...
I much prefer the SM60 fitted to the longer focal length ED80 and the etalon from the Solarmax added to give a double stack...
The dramatic improvement in the bandpass - down to the 0.4A shows a lot more detail, albeit with a loss of light...I feel cheated when I work single stack.
