Northern Hemisphere 27th November 2011

Post by Montana »

Very difficult conditions today, coping with gale force wind. I managed to find an area where I could image the sun around midday squashed into a corner by the house, the PST just fit. The sun was 16 degrees above the horizon. It was worth it for the view, I hope you like my little offering. Taken with the DS PST 2x Barlow and 4 images put together in CS5.

It actually looks a bit better if you click on the image to Flickr, then click again to view in big.

Fantabulous! I do like the detail DS brings compared to SS.

I'm currently sat in Brussells, we missed our connecting flight due to a medical emergency (not us!) - my colleague is worried we're going to be stranded and not make it to Geneva, i'm taking the more relaxed approach and are spending the vouchers they have given us on some liquid refreshemnt ;)

I keep telling him not to worry, they won't keep us in Brussells any longer than they need to and will 'deport' us as soon as possible... ;)

You mean like this one Alexandra? I just went to flickr and pulled up the biggest size I could find, right clicked the image and copied the actual image link, then used the insert image link in this forum's compose message window and there you have it. (left click the image above for the full resolution lightbox image popup to appear) There are a million cool tools on here that are at your disposal but sometimes they arent as straightforward as I would like.

There is a pointless discussion going on over at CN about people trying to figure out the image restrictions, etc.. Just to be clear, there are NO pixel size restrictions here. There is a current 10MB size limit per image but I just set it there because I had to choose a size setting to install the software. I have about 8500TB of storage on my servers and I dont care if you post your entire 30GB's of daily avi's or just a 80X80 image as long as it is beautiful in your eyes and we can all enjoy it.

I made what I considered a very respectful post over there trying to let them know that maybe the moderation is not as important as the material and perhaps they should just loosen the reigns a litttle. Ill probably be thrown off the forum now.

Thanks everyone, I'm honoured to have so many replies :)

Stephen,
Thanks for the big image, I wondered about that, I must learn

Mark - I really hope you make it! flying just stresses me any way, I was on drugs from the doc in June so I guess I wouldn't have noticed if I missed a flight. You should have gone from Manchester, we have direct flights to Geneva :p

Walter, I'm trying to learn how to use these smiles as well but there isn't the one you mention, do you click and drag them in or do you write them? we'll see how they turn out as I am writing them B)

All good fun!

Alexandra

Thanks Neo, Gary, Ken and Derek!

Neo, before solar maximum the northern hemisphere is statistically more active, this reverses to the southern after maximum.

Derek, sadly the 100mm setup wouldn't fit in the 2ft by 1ft square of solar rays left in my garden, I think after this week there will be no solar rays left anywhere in the garden. I need to go somewhere else now or wait till February, quite frustrating really.

Hi Alexandra

that is a cracker  (miss this bow button here, Stephen please ......)

Hi Alexandra

writing the code is good and fast, but if the code is not rekognised withhin that site, it will not show up.

Maybe Stephen has just overlooked our little, weak signs of asking for help ;-) .

Stephen, we would very much like to have a () button, please :-)
