First Light of my new Ha gear imaged on 2012-05-04
Hi friends,
After having sorted out some problems, I got the first light of my Daystar filter. This is an ION filter of 0.4A attached to a 127mm f/7.5 APO through a PM x4. I did these images in a day with a seeing from regular to bad, having to do several captures to end up with these results.
I did a reducer from 127mm to 80mm to be able to work with a PM of 2.5x and not to be so dependent on the seeing, but these images were taken at full aperture.
Anyway, I would appreciate to have your comments about these images.
Thanks for looking,
Fernando

Fernando those are truly amazing. Narrowing the band seems to bring out the swirls better in finer detail. Proms look about the same, but still very good!

Hi Fernando...
For first light images, the new equipment is showing excellent results.
Looking forward to seeing more for this setup.

Brilliant Fernando and did you just use the UV/IR block filter or did you have an ERF. If no ERF how was the temperature. I am very interested in this set up and look foward to your posts on this .
Thanks Derek

Hi Fernando
These do look fantastic - the second one (limb) has a real depth and great appeal.
Good luck with your new set up!

Hi fellows,
Thank you so much for the positive feedback and comments about this first lights. Your inputs are really important to guide me if I am on the right track as for capture and processing using this new gear.
Derek: I am using only the UV-IR Block in front off the diagonal. The only concern I have is to keep a foam board projecting some shade over the filter and camera to avoid direct sun's radiation hitting. The temperature around the red heatsink I would say is normal.
I am uploading and image of the filter attached to th telescope.
Thank you very much my friends.
