ANYONE NEAR TUCSON WANT TO HELP OUT NICK HOWES AT A SOLAR SHOW?

Post by solarchat »

I got this email from forum member Nick Howes (formerly Astronomy Now Magazine UK) asking for help or to borrow a mount in Tucson for a big show he is doing. I told him I would post it here and that one of our outreach gurus would love to help him,. Anyone here interested in helping out Nick since he cant pack a mount to fly over the Atlantic?

Stephen, I wonder if you can help on something. Feel free to say no, and I won't mind. As you know I am coming to Tucson to Spacefest and to cover the Venus Transit . It's also for UK Magazine Popular Astronomy. The worry I have is getting the mount over to Tucson (I am possibly taking my own EQ3-2, with two changes of flights. I am bringing the SV50 solarscope and W066/SM60II rigs with me as well (in hand luggage as I don't trust any baggage dudes with etalons!..)

Do you know anyone who may be able to hire me/loan me a mount in the Tucson area? EQ6 would be perfect for weight/load capacity, but anything Orion/EQ series equally so (HEQ5 etc)
