A Quick Look At Sundays Sun...

Post by marktownley »

Todays observing session went something like this - setup, sit waiting for cloud breaks, get few breaks with poor seeing, more cloud... Looks like myself and Alexandra were imaging at exactly the same time as my first capture of a surge prom from AR1469 passing over the limb lasted for no more than 10 minutes. AR1471 had loads going on...

Next off new active region AR1476 has loads going on, and for those with clear skies will put on quite a show...

I may have a couple more yet, however have to go to the pub now, so will have to update when the rain returns tomorrow...

Hope you like! These were taken with the 100mm PST @ f10, DMK31.

Mark :)

Hi Mark

great results for the conditions you have, but I'm sure the conditions in the pup are much better for close ups ;)

We have virtually identical shots, how funny is that! I didn't know that the surge prom lasted such a short time as I only saw it once for a minute :) These are terrific Mark!!

Thanks y'all! :)

I did take some closeups, I shall have a look at them today Walter, but i'm not holding much hope for them tbh, seeing was awful - even at prime focus spicules weren't visible, just a smeared halo around the suns limb...

Great shots Mark, I like those a lot :)

Oh for some long days of clear skies eh? Starting to get bored trying to get setup and capturing 30second gaps in the cloud :)

Total sunshine here today (Incoming radiation greater than 120 W/m2) was a grand total of 7.4 seconds, grrrrr

Cheers

Ian
