Finally a 2017 session, 25 February 2017

Post by mattwastell »

Hi all
I finally had my first session for 2017 - it was not easy - hot, humid & constant passing clouds. I had a few brief views & also managed 7 AVI's - most with clouds. Still there was a bit going on for a quiet Sun - good AR & proms.
Images with LS60 & DMK51.
Have a great weekend all!

Well done mate. Challenging conditions, but at least you managed a couple of good images. Nothing but cloud, rain and wind here.

Superb views :bow are you getting bad weather too? we are just having a terrible time, worst ever, it seems to have been permanently cloudy bar one day since Christmas. I am so glad I am not doing my analemma project this year ;)

Thanks Alexandra & all.

Our weather has not been as bad as you are experiencing - we have had a very hot & humid summer with quite a lot of overcast to cloudy days. My lack of activity is partly to do with the weather & my availability - when I have been free it has either been 35+ with extreme humidity or cloudy - when I have been at work it has been clear! I think I need to pray to Ra a bit more! Have a great week.

Great set of images Matt.
Good to see somebody else getting to image the sun again!
At least our days are getting longer now in the UK so; more chances to observe the sun at a reasonable altitude.

Thanks again - perfect blue skies in the morning, 24 degrees (quite fresh for before lunch) & a nice breeze - at work though! I hope everyone is getting some rays!

Hi Matt,

Nice FD despite the clouds. How is the DMK 52 for solar imaging? Looks good for FD. Is it slow for bigger image scale imaging?

Hi Alfred
I love the DMK51 for full disc imaging with my LS60 - they are a very good match. I have only used other DMK imagers (21 & 31) so my knowledge is limited.
Based on what I have read, the DMK51 is extremely slow compared to newer imagers. Also with a USB3 port the DMK51 can only operate at half speed. Probably not a good option.
