AR 2659 with the 300 mm solar telescope and granulation bonus/May 28
Dear All,
Here are my first solar images taken this year with the 300 mm solar telescope.
Here is the small sunspot group visible these last days, taken here with a 500 nm filter :
The same group taken this time with a G band filter. Unfortunately, the seeing was getting worse :
And the solar granulation with the 500 nm filter with excellent seeing :
Best regards
Christian Viladrich

Magnificent views, Christian.
You know what I'm going to say: a few-minute animation at this resolution is very desirable!

Thanks to all :-)
Here is an image of the 300 mm solar telescope :
More information there :

Yes ... an animation of the granules with this resolution would be amazing. I would need to get the scope on top of a 2800 m summit. Maybe this summer ...

Hi Christian,
excellent images! The granulation is "magnifique"!
The solar telescope is awesome! and your imaging site has a lovely landscape!
I have a curiosity: are you using just a green filter in front of the camera or also other filters to protect from heat?

Thanks Marcello :-)
The primary mirror is not coated, so there is only the green filter in front of the camera.

Dear Christian,
Nice setup, especially the very practical improvisation for sun shade/shield
Getting the sunspots near the limbs has been a great challenge for me. You did it excellently. Your setup in the green surrounding must have helped getting the nice seeing conditions.
Thanks for sharing.
Alfred

Thanks Robert and Alfred :-)
My sunshade /shield is not very good looking .. I have to work on that ;-)
The observing site can be quite good when the wind blows from the right direction. I also know of a better site at 1500 m altitude, but I prefer to observe at home. It is more convenient.
