AR 2659 on May 26,27 & 29 with the 300 Newtonian and various filters

Post by christian viladrich »

Dear All,

Here are some additional images of AR 2659 taken with the 300 mm solar Newtonian and various filters.

May 26 with the 540 nm filter, there are some ombral dots :

Image

May 27, with the 540 nm filter again, there are some faculae on the left on the sunspot group :

Image

Same day with the 500 nm filter, the resolution increases as well as the contrast of faculae :

Image

With the G band filter, the seeing gets worse, but the resolution gets really good in some parts of the image :

Farewell to the spot on May 29, with the 540 nm filter again:

The 500 nm (OIII) is a good all around filter for observation of the photosphere, still not well known.

Excellent series of images, Christian!

Very nice resolution! I am green envy for such a seeing quality :) .

HI Christian;

As usual, your images are outstanding. You continue to be the "gold standard" the rest of us aspire to.

Many thanks,

Christian,
I see Optolong have a reasonably priced OIII (25nm bandwidth) filter.
Any comment? Do you think there would be the same improvement as you found with the 10nm version?
