White Filter of Todays Sunspot 7JUL2017 JSM

Post by Albuqshutterbug »

I shot a few white filter shots of the new sunspot today testing and prepping for August.
I still haven't decided exactly what setup I plan to use but this is what I shot the Annular eclipse in 2012 with and it worked very well.
Canon 7D Mark II instead of my older Canon 7D.
Canon 300mm L Prime with Canon 1.4 teleconverter.
Homemade 77mm Baader solar film filter.
Trimmed for detail

Lunt pressure tuned 60mm with 1200 blocking filter.
And Baader 5D solar film filters for all of my lenses and telescopes.

For Imaging:
Celestron Skyris 236M and 236C
Canon 7D, Canon 5D Mark II and Canon T2i IR Modified

Hi James,

Sounds like a good and tested setup. All the best.

Thank you all for the kind comments.
Franco, will you be heading to centerline?

James looks like a good setup with enough space to capture the corona at totality. I have a 60D and find the tilt screen very good this type of shooting.

Thanks Derek,
This is actually cropped by about 20% so I am sure this would give me enough room.
