Enough yet ?

Post by [whrudey] »

With AR2665 the only show in town, one continues to image it under varying conditions. Yesterday was best - today not quite. Nonetheless, these will contribute to a record of AR2665's existence over time.

Thanks everyone. I still think that the best image of AR2665 thus far was: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=22898 In the enlarged view, there's tons of granule detail. My 8" Solar Newton is capable of this detail but, requires good viewing conditions.

Cheers,

Bill

Hi Bill,

Great capture with your 8" Newt. What filter did you use?

Thanks Alfred;

My 8" mirror was stripped so that it behaves like a Herschel wedge in terms of reflection ie. 4.6%. The filter pack is made up of a Baader Solar Continuum, a UV/IR cut filter and a ND 2. This pack is then screwed into the camera nose-piece. with the Solar Continuum first after the secondary. This combination seems to work quite well when viewing conditions are good.
