Quick session this morning 13/7/17 with Tal/PST mod

Post by DJD »

Dear All,
Could not resist a patchy sky this morning to have another go at the big active region.
Seeing very wobbly and clouded over soon after.
This one came out not too bad considering ...
60 frames stacked from 1200 frame concatenated set of SErs with PGR G3 on Tal/PST mod
Hope everyone gets a glimpse of the sun today.
Best wishes,
David

Beautiful image, David.

Is it my monitor or is there a problem with black level in the spot umbra?

Cheers.
Peter.

Thank you all.
Peter, no it is an artefact of one of the techniques I use to get a "flatter" image.
Depending on how lazy I feel, I leave it if there is any interesting features, or fill it in to hide it.
I felt lazy today :-)
Best wishes,
David

Re: Quick session this morning 13/7/17 with Tal/PST mod - reprocessed

Post by DJD »

Having had a look at Alexandra's Tutorial and always willing to learn, I have reprocessed
an image using imPPG. I replaced my usual statistical-differences based sharpening with the L-R
step advocated in the tutorial. I need to practice this as I had to soften the results afterwards.
Then processed as in the other image. Have to say the final result is an improvement I would say.
What do you think ?
Never too old to learn :-)
Best wishes,
David
