July 15th - a short session

Post by MapleRidge »

Hello everyone...

Work kept me busy most of Saturday, but I did manage a short session after lunch before heading back to scout fields.

As usual, I started with full disk Ha images through the LS80T/DSII/B1200Ha/PGR ICX674 CCD with a composite of separate disk and limb images shown below:

I ran a quick set of images through the 25cm ACF OTA/Daystar ERF/2.7x Telecentric/ZWO174MM using the Astronomik 12nm Ha filter to capture an image in the red end of the visible spectrum:

The last video clips were taken with the Daystar Quantum with the same setup as above. The seeing was better than recent sessions, though the fact I wasn't out until early afternoon didn't help. I captured several videos of AR2665, the best one shown below:

I am glad to see the seeing conditions are improving as the landscape has pretty much become covered in green...month or more late but green none the less.

These are great Brian :bow :hamster: I too am struggling this year with only afternoon sessions. I have only had 2 morning sessions this year so far as the weather has been very strange. Consistently this year the Sun always seems to come out mid afternoon to evening, whereas all years gone past it would be clear first thing in the morning and clouding up by 11am. Weather patterns seem different now compared with only a couple of years ago.

Brian,
do you grow scouts in Canada ? We breed them over here.
Super set, especially the FDs.
Best wishes,
David

Alexandra and David...thanks for your comments. Always appreciated :bow

Alexandra, we had a record drought last summer and now a record breaking cool/wet spring and summer. I recall 2000 being a lot like this, following a record El Nino event the previous year and was very wet. So far, we are ahead of that dismal 'summer' for rain...on the positive side we are to have some sun and heat this week, which will help the corn grow.

David...yes, the scouts are out in their summer nurseries...got to keep an eye on them or they get into mischief
