The stitching is a little splotchy but I'm sometimes surprised at how many proms become visible after processing.

Lou:
Beautiful huge disc.
How do you record/process the prominences, are they taken on a separate avi or just you stretch the "surface" one.
Best wishes,
Eric.

Re: Full disk from July 18
Hi, Eric
Short answer:
I use one image that contains both disk and proms but I select out the disk and proms as layers and process them separately.
Long answer:
To start, I record 4 panes at 1120mm with an LS80 at 1120mm on a 1 inch PGR G3 (6Mp). Then, I stitch them into a disk in PS. Then, I apply Astra Image to the mosaic, L-R convolution with a psf of 0.6 and subtle wavelets (small = 6, medium = 12). Then the tedious work begins.
I apply a selection circle that lies just inside the spicule layer and cut out the disk. Then I paste the disk back into a slightly reduced spicule and prom layer and process each layer separately.

Hi Lou:
Thanks for your short and long answers, and excuse me for the not making a clear question, sometimes the language barrier complicate things.
Actually I wanted to know if you get the prominences and surface images from an aligned and stacked frame.
I do the same sometimes and others take separate frames and then compose them.
I appreciate your processing explanation, there is always something new to learn.
Best regards,
Eric.

That was a lot of fun to scroll around. Great collection of proms in that image.

Hi, Eric
I've never had any problem understanding your English. I may have misinterpreted your question. Reading your question again made me realize that you want to know whether the proms are from a separate avi or from the same image that contains the surface. They come from the same aligned and stacked image that the surface comes from. I don't process the image that contains both proms and surface as a unit. I separate the proms and surface into 2 layers by selection and process the layers separately. I hope that's what you meant.

Lou:
Yes, though some do process the image that contains the prominences and the surface as a unit, a fried of mine records both with one of the tools that Lucam Recorder has (Palette), I do not.
I just separate the proms and the surface into 2 layers and as you process them separately. Sometimes I do a surface frame and also make a prominence frame and compose them.
We take different ways to get to the same result, in my case I use Maxim DL, AstraImage, Photo Shop and some Topaz plug ins to some extent, it depends how my images respond.
Regards and thanks again.
Eric.
