Just thought that I would introduce myself. My name is Dave and I do photography during my free time. I photograph birds, deep sky Astrophotography, wide field night skies, and anything interesting to me. I was interested in solar imaging before the eclipse but did not have the equipment so didn't follow up on it. Since the eclipse was coming up, I decided I wanted to get some nice shots of it and then I started seeing the benefits of solar imaging versus night time imaging. Definitely one of the disadvantages is the temperature during the summertime. I think I lost 5 pounds last week trying to get things down on the imaging.
Anyways, I have a Nikon D810a which is great for Astrophotography, but I am not sure what it does with solar imaging, especially with the new Quark that I just bought. I have an Atlas mount and have been using my 150-600 Sigma lens but also have an Explorer Scientific 127mm f7.5 scope which I haven't tried to do solar imaging with. I have a couple of filters other than the Quark and am going to work on getting organized for next week this week.
Anyways, just wanted to introduce myself.
Dave
BTW I put the wrong color code in for my Orion in Pixinsite and got my sunburst and it is actually my favorite deep sky image.

Re: Introduction
Welcome Dave I would use an older DSLR for Solar images as I think the 810s chip may be a bit to sensitive even with the right filtration. Also you may find a smaller Mono camera better for Ha with the Quark.Check Mark Townleys site for good advice.

Re: Introduction
Thank you. He responded with too much exposure. But I can barely see anything as it is. I will check out his site.

Re: Introduction
A very warm welcome Dave and a super set of night sky images
Don't forget to remove all solar filters if you want an image of totality so if you are taking images of the partial phase beforehand using the Quark etc make sure you allow yourself plenty of time to remove them and get ready for totality (but don't remove the lens cap until totality).
