It's more to do with the newer Quark, to be honest. I'm amazed by the difference in quality. My old Quark needed a far bit of tilt (Rowan Astronomy tilt adapter) with both my ASI 174 and ASI 1600- actually the 1600 needed a LOT of tilt. The newer Quark, using the same ASI 174 camera it needs virtually no tilt. Screwed directly onto the back of the Quark I get some banding, but no rings. The bandpass on the newer Quark seems a lot tighter and field illumination is much more even. This means that the processing is a heck of a lot easier.
