Few images of AR12671

Post by krakatoa1883 »

Despite the thermal turbulence that is common in Milan during summer I have taken few images at low resolution of the subject group that is now very extended in longitude and still developing. Yesterday morning at 112x I counted 41 spots that in the afternoon became 54 (due to poor seeing my estimate is probably defective). Unfortunately I completely missed the beautiful prominences of yesterday!

Thanks for looking!

Great report of an interesting active area. I am in cloudy Edinburgh with no telescope so thank you!

Thanks for appreciation. I add an image of today taken in slightly better conditions through my 130mm solar newtonian and Baader Continuum filter. I also tried to image with a K-line filter but turbulence was high and all stacked images were too much blurred. Group activity seems now declining.

Great images Raf that 130mm WL is exceptional with that aperture.

Thank you Nick and Derek. I am quite happy of my small solar newtonian. Months ago I found on this forum a topic describing this kind of telescope made from an ordinary commercial unit and I decided to make one by myself as I described on this page. Eventually I spent less money than for my Baader Cool Ceramic wedge and its performances are comparable or even better.
