18 August prom animation

Post by taratasy »

Hi all,

Yesterday's solar prominence was very large so I made my first solar timelapse using my Lunt LS50THa and Zwo asi-120MMs camera :)
I took 14 images every 5 minutes. It was a real pain to stack everything together :!:
I wanted to take more image but clouds got in the way around noon. Anyway I think the resulting animation is very nice.

Great catch!

With a few tricks it shouldn't be. Most stackers have batch mode (AS!3 - just select all videos, drag and drop them on program window; in AviStack2, Stackistry, select and open multiple files). Then I suggest using ImPPG for batch post-processing and automatic alignment of resulting images. I routinely stack and process 200-plus-frame time-lapses, it's no big deal (usually I only have to manually fiddle with stacking settings for a few % of videos).

Here's your prominence realigned with ImPPG:

My software:
Stackistry — an open-source cross-platform image stacker
ImPPG — stack post-processing and animation alignment
