Hello,
some imaging from this week where conditions were not exactly easy. Initially, on wednesday morning the sun was very low in the sky. Moreover, the region just came into view which means some perspective shortening and, thus, difficult to visualize detail. Anyway, here is the image:
On the next dayatmospheric conditions weren't much easier, but a bit less issues with perspective:
Another two days later I was almost clouded out. High clouds which resulted in just above 50% SSM signal (usually I have 90% or more at this time of the day). To compensate for low light and strong light scattering by the clouds, I had to use a broadband red-filter. And if things go wrong, they go really wrong: I didn't have a good flat. I aquired one, but it wasn't good... . Anyway, I was able to get image from this nice active region despite very difficult conditions:
On a side note, on wednesday I stumbled across an unusual region where something may develop and I thought I should try imaging it. Later I saw, it was very early phases of AR12675, but at that time there was no assignement yet alhtough if one looks very carefully at SolarMonitor.org, one can see them as well. Here is the image with an early phase of AR12675 just below the center :
Enjoy,
Laura

Laura:
Very good images in spite of seeing.
Best regards,
Eric.

Hi, Laura
Although a shallow perspective often means details are suppressed as you say, it does draw you in by its sense of depth. The second image does that for me and represents my favourite type of image after filaproms in Ha. Some details in the second image indicate you have pretty good seeing in your location.
I also use Baader 3.8 with my 6" AR152 that I use for my current white light closeups but with a Baader SII filter (672nm 8nm bandwidth). It gives great contrast to the granules and calms the seeing. I haven't compared it to a narrow Ha filter. I don't have a white light filter for my c9.25 yet as most places that stocked 3.8 foil say "unavailable" except for TS who say that Baader will now only supply sheets in A4 size (8"x12"). I may order a couple of sheets and attach them securely with aluminum tape and shape it afterwards.

Re: AR12674 WL with EdgeHD11 under difficult conditions
Hi Lou,
thanks for your kind words. Actually, I am not so shure if my seeing is that good because normals daytime seeing is typically 2-3 arcsec on a good day. The SSM helps to identify and use as a trigger those short moments with exceptional seeing. In one of my other current threads I have given a result where you can see this:

Thanks for the info re SII filter, I have commented on it in your other thread from today (viewtopic.php?f=4&t=23362 ).
Best, Laura
