G-Band Image from Singapore (New Image added 4Sep)

Post by yltansg »

This was the setup I used for this weekend's G-band imaging with an ARIES ERF on a C8, 4x Barlow + 430/10nm + ASI174MM camera:

Image

Image
Imaging was done in between clouds

Image
AR12674 imaged on 2Sep 17

Image
AR12674 imaged on 3Sep17. It has grown larger and filled the full FOV provided by a 4x barlow

I was glad to have these as the seeing condition was poor.

Thanks Sam, LauraMS and Derek.

The weather has gone South again today and the Sun is totally hidden.

I am still looking for a G-band image with clearly defined granule edges in and near the active regions.

Hi, Alfred

I hope the weather improves soon for you. There are some fine details in your work.

I have a question about your set up for these images. I want to set up my c9.25 + full aperture ERF + 2.5X - 4X Powermates for "white light" imaging, I mean where sunspots look like traditional sunspots. So far, any camera filter I've used gives an image that is far too bright for any shutter speed available.

Do you use any other filtration besides your Aries ERF and the 430/10nm CCD filter on your setup for these images?

Lou

New addition from today's session (4 Sep 17). This sunspot has grown rapidly and worth watching....

Hi Lou,

I know what you mean. I have experienced it myself. What I did was to place a ND filter in the light path. Previously I placed it immediately after the SCT before the diagonal and it cracked. Now, on Valery's advice, I placed it (the ND filter) after the 430/10nm filter before the camera. I have bought the following 3 filters for my experiments:

High Point Neutral Density Filter 50% Transmission ND96-0.3 - ND96

High Point 1.25" Neutral Density Filter 25% Transmission ND96-0.6 - ND61

High Point 1.25" Neutral Density Filter 13% Transmission - ND96-0.9 - ND91

Have fun :)

Alfred
