AR2673 continues to impress

Post by Carbon60 »

A short window of opportunity opened this morning between the heavy clouds and showers giving me the chance to see first-hand the beautiful sunspot groups that make up AR2673 and 2674.

AR2673 is currently putting on a fabulous display with a significant surge prom shooting thousands of km above the surface. I managed to capture the solar fireworks using my 150mm/DS Lunt 35 operating with a Basler acA1920155um camera on a 2.5x Powermate giving a focal ratio of about f35.

Here are the resulting images in several flavours......

and a two pane mosaic to include AR2674.

Thanks for looking

Hi, Stu

I second Franco's opinion.
The second image is what I live for in this hobby.

Oh man, they are lovely.
I particularly like the processing on the second one - very dramatic!

Pity I missed the looping proms. Nothing but thick clouds and heavy rain showers since I took these.

Wow! I think that is the biggest surge I have ever seen :bow :hamster:
We got some gaps yesterday but then it would rain within 10 minutes of them and not light rain either, it just wasn't possible. Of course I am sure we will have a beautiful clear and sunny weekend the next time the Sun is completely quiet ;)
