September 24th Session
Good day everyone...
Summer has come to Southern Ontario on the late side this year...in the low 30's C most days the past 2 weeks and many sunny days (work still interfering with astronomy ). The seeing has suffered form the heat, but I still managed to get some images on Sunday morning.
As usual, I started with full disk images with Ha through the LS80T/DSII?B1200Ha/PGR camera with ICX674 chip) and used the Istar 150mm, f8 OTA for WL and CaK with the Lunt Solar Wedge/Baader Continuum filter and Lunt B1800 CaK Wedge/Baader K band filter. The ZWO ASI1600MM camera was used for these full disk images. The full disk series are shown below in various palettes:
The Ha set: The WL set: The CaK set: Seeing prevented capturing much detail in higher resolution through the CaK filters, but I grabbed these images of AR2682 and 2681 with a 2.5x Powermate and the ZWO 174mm camera: After these images were collected I switched over to the CR-150/3x Telextender/Daystar Quantum setup to capture some higher resolution images of the active regions. Most of the activity was on the SE limb where AR2682 and 2681 where found, and I managed to mosaic the region into one image. Posted below in mono, inverse, and colourized versions: The last set of images are another mosaic that covers a large filament and a small spot of activity between it and the limb. Shown in the same set of palettes as above: That pretty much covers the session form Sunday morning. It has been a few weeks since I posted, but have been playing around with the 25cm large aperture scope as time permits...slowly making progress with it.
Questions and comments are always welcome,
Brian

Re: September 24th Session
Glad you are having fine weather Brian, hopefully that will ripen all the harvests quickly and allow good dry conditions for bringing it in. We have had cold soggy cloudy conditions since the end of July here, not good at all.
Your images are very beautiful, I love the prominences and the fine details in the last few are breathtaking. I hope your good weather continues

Merlin, Derek, and Alexandra...
Thanks for your comments and feedback...always very much appreciated
The late effort of heat and sun has helped crops mature, but still weeks behind sue to late planting...corn is suffering the most due its growth rate linked to temperature. All far better than we were looking at the start of of the month with a couple of close calls with frost that would have made a mess of things. Busy with soybean harvest and planting winter wheat...no shortage of demands on my time again
Brian

Re: September 24th Session
Hi, Brian
This was a great session especially with the fine detail in the mosaics. I missed imaging on the 24th but managed on the 23rd and 25th. I don't think the variety of proms that you recorded were obvious on GONG or I would have gone out,
The 25th was the most uncomfortable day of this past season but I went out because I thought there were some worthwhile solar features. I'm currently waiting for 3 components for a double stacking setup that I hope I can get up and running before this season ends for me (around the first week in November usually).

Re: September 24th Session
Lou and David...
Thanks for your feedback!!!
Lou...I can't recall if I checked GONG before going out, but it isn't an absolute for me. I usually go and see what is going on, but I do have the advantage of a permanent setup though, so I don't have a s much tied up if there isn't anything going on. The unseasonable weather the past week or 10 days sure makes working in the sun especially challenging. I think I took the first dip in the pool so far this year on Sunday afternoon...a month ago I was being badgered to close it down since the summer was so cold and wet! Hope you manage to get more clear skies to play in before the winter shuts you down.
I think I need to process the prom images if they turned out...kinda forgot about them May have an update to come!
