AR12681, AR12682 and AR12683 in H-alpha on September 29th 2017

Post by FeroT »

Today's spots captured with home made 3D printed truss tube Wollensak D153mm F8 achromat, Quark Chromo single stack with ASI174MM.
2000 frames sequences each. Stacked 150 best frames. Processed with ImagesPlus and tweaked a bit in Photoshop.
Average seeing according to SSM was around 2.6 in a range from 1.1 to 3.6.
I have moved from double stack Quark-Lunt LS50F to Quark only, to achieve significantly shorter exposures and max frame rate with ASI174MM. It is showing up in the details in comparison to my earlier DS images.

Here are some examples of the spots, more you can find in my Flickr album

Thank you Alexandra, I appreciate your kind words. The Sun is very interesting now, I hope I capture more of it during the weekend.

Thanks Brian, I am still tweaking the workflow. Most of the things learned here, from you guys and girls :-)
Slowly getting to the maximum capabilities of my current system, so soon I will be in Alexandra's position of channeling some funds to get new gear. Valery will like it probably ;-)

Terrific pics Frank a wet arvo here so I perused some of your Flickr albums.Love the set up that's a long train to keep rigid.Good luck with future mods I have resisted going larger than 150mm as I only have conditions here once or twice a year where even that aperture is viable.Mind you I diverted to Canon telephotos so it may have been more economical to stick with Solar mods.
