A few from Oct 1st

Post by MapleRidge »

Good evening everyone...

We had another clear fall day on Sunday and as usual, headed to the observatory after breakfast to do some observing and imaging.

The activity continued with AR's 2682 and 2683 near mid disk and AR2681 near the western limb. The large serpentine filament continues to wind around AR2682, and there were several smaller proms as well. The white light details in the sunspots was very beautiful to view. Seeing was moderate, so I limited the full disk to all three bands and only worked in Ha for the higher resolution images.

First up are the Ha full disks through the LS80T/DSII, captured with the PGR ICX674 CCD chipped camera. Offered in 3 palettes:

The next set of images were taken through the Istar 150mm, F8 OTA with the Lunt Solar Wedge/Baader Continuum Filter for the WL images and a Lunt B1800CaK Wedge/Baader CaK filter set, with the ZWO ASI1600MM camera:

The higher resolution Ha images were taken with the CR-150/DSII/B1800Ha modded scope and the ZWO 174MM camera. The mosaics below were assembled from a half dozen separate images and presented in a monochrome, inverted and colourized versions:

This covers off the Sunday session...still working on Mondays harvest.

Questions and comments are always welcome.

I really do like the last set, when opened in a new tab and viewed at full size the detail is very good, nice work Brian :bow :hamster: nothing but cloud here, I have never known it to be grey for so many months.
