Tropical storm Nate wandered by to our east and entered the Gulf of Mexico as Hurricane Nate (Cat 1-2). Viewing conditions poor but managed to catch a few images as follows. Cayman Islands indicated by arrow.
Enjoy,
Bill

Good results considering Bill! I had wondered about you in Grand Cayman with this years active hurricane season. Has the island been affected much?

Re: Exiting AR2683 post tropical storm Nate
Thanks Stu and Mark.
We've been lucky here regarding Hurricanes ever since Ivan in 2004. Ivan was a Cat 5 which passed 20 miles south of us and, almost 80 % of the Island was under water - my house was surrounded by 4 feet of water with two feet inside. This year the USA and Antilles got the worst of things with three big ones. It's hard to know where to live these days - Hurricanes in the Tropics, Earthquakes in other parts, forest fires in California and the Canadian foothills, Tornadoes in the American plains, etc.
Much is dependent on the Bermuda High. If large in size, storms originating off the African coast are forced into the Caribbean - if smaller, the storms can crawl up the US east coast. One place where the media distorts is with maximum sustained winds. Their hype implies that this continues across the entire storm when, in fact, it applies only to the central eye region. If 50 - 60 miles out from the eye, wind speeds drop rapidly.
So, there's my long winded answer.

Very interesting Bill, glad you are OK and these images are really great. I guess you have an added bonus that you do see sunshine occasionally unlike the UK.
