Limb performance of the 280mm aperture. 295mm DERF PST Mod2

Post by Valery »

Hi all,

I know that many of you do like photos of near limb and limb activity.

When I recently re-viewed my images library I found this image which may be worth of your
attention. The image has been taken morning Sept 12 2016 with my trusty C11 and it's main
accessories - the ARIES 295mm DERF and the PST Mod-2 etalon.

Near limb structures are the most difficult to image solar features. Only faint prominences
are more difficult to image. Here you can see how good such a large aperture 280mm works
on near limb structures. Very thin fibrils and spiculaes are well seen.

You can also see that sun spots while large in size, are almost completely covered by the
chromospherical fibers and fibrils. 3-D in action.

Thanks for looking.

Valery

Valery:
Beautiful shot, envy you, I still haven`t had the opportunity to experiment with the Aries 265mm ERF, weather has been terrible, so I had no chance to test Barlows or cameras, the sun just gets out for a few minutes.
Best regards,
Eric.

Excellent images as always Valery! That is a fine PST etalon you have there.

Thanks Mark.

Yes, this PST etalon is extraordinary good. It is also about 2x(!!!) brighter than a normal narrow enough PST etalon.

Have you received a PM from me - the answer on the question about the 140mm filter?
