Good capture but turn the heat down - looks a bit over cooked........
Reprocessing with a lighter touch I'm sure will still show the detail you're looking for.

Great shot!! yes the second image is better than the first but I guess good seeing would really improve the detail too

"good seeing" what I would give for that! I am tree challenged, get 25 degrees at the zenith opening to 60 degrees at the treelined horizon but the is totally over a neighbors asphalt shingle roof and 600 feet beyond that is a large factory with smokestacks that pump out humidity from what ever they are doing there. It is like looking through a moving stream, but I still try.
For my skies this is about a sharp as I can get. The air around this part of New England is affected by the ocean, we rarely have a true blue sky almost always milky white also a lot of dust from Rt 95 1/4 mile to the south and Rt 1 400 feet to the north and at night Bortle 8 due to a large mall 300 feet from my house.

Ben,
The image looks high contrast and "heavy"....
With different processing the prom, filaments and surface detail should look "wispy" and less contrast..
Compare your results with others - always a good starting point.....

That is why I do solar and lunar. I can drive about an hour and get to Bortle 6.5 skies in RI and almost two hours to the coast at the Frosty Drew Observatory for Bortle 4-5 but they are only open Friday nights and there are hundreds of people there (so they say) I think more like dozens, but they come up to your scope and start touching it and you get tired of saying no. ALSO the parking lot faces the scope pad so every minute or two you are bathed in headlights
