CaK Full Disk - 25th October

Post by marktownley »

We're away for the week in Anglesey at the moment, and careful studying of the weather made me decide there was no point bringing much in the way of solar gear as any sun was going to be fleeting at best, so decided to bring the 40mm scope, camera tripod, CaK filter and PGR CH3 camera. First thing this morning had a very brief sunny gap in what seems to have been endless rain and gray skies so I grabbed a quick full disk at 560mm focal length. Aligning the sun on the chip so that it drifted horizontally along the frame meant I was able to grab some images to stack. Nice to see these active regions on their 3rd journey around the sun, shame I couldn't see them first time round when they were active :D

Hope the sun is out where you are!

Lovely full discs Mark, CaK at 40mm is always a winner :hamster: :bow pity you couldn't test the HaT there, never mind ;) I also wish I could have seen these monsters on the first time round too :)

Thanks Alexandra, I was closely looking at the weeks weather forecast right up until we left home last sunday, if there was any chance of decent sunshine I would have been lugging the HaT along, but gray is the theme for the week. We're off for a rib ride on the Menai Straits today so hopefully some nice wildlife to see!
